The Shepherd Rugged™ Series has been designed to endure virtually any tactical weapon system or environment there is. Added strength to the turret assemblies, lens retainers, and interior support systems allow these scopes to take any punishment that the terrain or weapon can dish out without adding weight. As with all Shepherd Scopes, we use the best extra-low dispersion glass to synchronize colors and focus wavelengths for the brightest and clearest sight picture possible.
The 3-9×40 Rugged Scope has a one piece 30mm tube, ¼ MOA per click turrets, locking adjustable eyepiece, and a bullet drop compensating front focal plane (FFP) reticle. The scopes are nitrogen purged to prevent fogging and waterproof up to one meter. No matter what environment you’re shooting in, you can shoot faster and farther with Shepherd!
The reticle in the Rugged 3-9×40 has drops for multiple calibers combined into one reticle. From 400 yards to 1000 yards there are 18” (at range) horizontal lines for flatter trajectories and 9” lines for bullets with more drop. There are also ½ MOA Dots out to 600 yards for .223/5.56.
6.5 Creedmoor, 7mm-08, 300 Win Mag, .308, 30-06, 338 Win Mag are just some of the calibers that will work on the R-22 reticle. Compare your bullet drops to the reticle drop figures below. Combine this scope with Shepherd’s Cradle Mount to quickly and easily move the scope from one rifle to another.

Used on Remington 700 heavy barrel in .308. Really great scope for mid range hunting. On range, no adjustments need out to 600 yards, cost of ammo high so I’m happy with that. Anything past that would use a different round/rifle. This is my 6th shepherd and I’m fond of all of them

It took a while but like buying Snap-On vs Harbor Freight tools, I just save my $ & spend it here with Shepherd. I got this scope simply because it was on sale. It had a future home atop a Winchester Model 70, 30-06 BUT my wife tried it so now it’s gone on her AR build.
She has trouble with other scopes, finding them hard to see through. No problems like this with Shepherds. Excellent glass!
I also am a multiple Shepherd product owner, couple of the DRS, 1-4×24, 1-8×24, this one & a very bright flashlight.
Stop wasting your money and buy the best bang for your buck!
Shepherd, shouldn’t be but it is, the best kept secret in optics!
